Water-resistant sunscreen

The southern island sun is strong almost all year, and glare off the water burns you faster than on the mainland. For boat trips, snorkelling or a long beach day, choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen labelled water-resistant, with SPF and PA clearly printed. Apply 15 to 20 minutes before going out and again after every swim. Sprays help with your back, lotions sink in quickly on the face, sticks cover lips and ears. Test on your wrist first if your skin is sensitive. Keep it in a shaded bag rather than a scooter seat box all day, where heat can weaken it.
