Beach sandals and straw bags
Island days mean wading, stepping onto boats, and walking on rocks and hot sand, so sandals need grip and cannot mind water. Flip-flops are fine around the hotel and on sand; strap sandals feel safer climbing on and off boats or on the rocky shores at Ganh Dau and Ham Ninh. A roomy straw bag carries a towel, sunscreen and water, ideally with a zipped pocket for your phone. For snorkel or island-hopping trips, a dry bag keeps your phone and documents dry. Bring a zip bag for wet swimwear on the way back. Rinse sandals in fresh water so salt does not stiffen the soles.
